Pray for Mrs.
Lhingboi w/o Rev. Henkholun Haokip:
Mrs. Lhingboi was struck with a powerful stroke
in the morning of December 22, 2011 which left her right side completely
paralyzed. Lhingboi is the wife of Rev. Henkholun Haokip and they have been
serving as Missionary at Bhalukpong, Arunachal Pradesh in North East India under
ECCI for the last many years. Lhingboi was immediately taken to Tezpur Baptist
Mission Hospital in Assam. Since her condition did not show any sign of
improvement, she was later taken to Guwahati for further treatment. Medical
expenses are high and it is beyond the normal budget of missionaries like Rev.
Henkholun. We request everyone who read this to offer prayers for her healing and
also funds for her treatment. Please go to the Contact link if you want to get in touch with us for details.
A brief report on my visit to Siliguri Mission Field:Rev. L.B. Angam
I
had the privilege of visiting Siliguri Mission Field during 4th and
5th October 2011. ECCI mission field Silliguri was formerly a
mission field directly administered by the Mission department ECCI. However due
to the new mission policy adopted by the department it was handed over to EOC,
a constituent Conference member of the ECCI, in June 2009. Since then, the
field has been looked after by EOC and the mission department ECCI as its
partner body in the endeavour.
After
landing at Guwahati airport I proceeded toward Foundation English School at Baihata
Chariali to meet our missionaries and reach there around 2 Pm. After discussing
various issues regarding our works in and around Baihata and spending few hours
with the missionaries, I left for Guwahati railway station to board
Kanchenjunga express. I reached Silliguri at around 8 am on 5th
October and took my lodge at City Corner Restaurant. It was Rev Seiboi the Field
in-charge of all the missionary works of at Silliguri who invited me to speak
during that two day’s fellowship and Rev. Randall Sizemore, Director GMC, USA
who finance my travelling expenses. As such I also express my utmost gratitude
to both of them.
‘Rasoi Sangati’, ‘Rasoi’ is a word much related to all the
entertainment programs during ‘Durga Puja’ the great festival of the Hindu and ‘sangati’
means fellowship. As per Rev. Seiboi, the same has been their usual practice every
year during Durga Puja celebration for the following three main reasons:-
Ø to control the
new believers from attending the Hindu festivals as they are very tempting
Ø to strengthen
their fellowship and
Ø to build up and
encourage one another.
The
programme was attended by around fifty believers from four
fellowships namely
Ashish Church, Bethel Church, Gethsamane Church and Anugrah Church along with
the missionaries serving there. Gethsamane and Anugrah Church members came all
the way from a place near Darjeeling which is more than 100 km from Silliguri to
attend the programme. The programme starts at 2 pm on 5th October
2011 which was followed by baptismal service. I was privilege of baptizing
three new believers.
Charismatic
style of worship services were led by Evan Sanjit and his team. Though it was a
small gathering, the services were very lively and the presence of the Holy
Spirit was sense by all during the entire fellowship. The programme ended at 4
pm on 6th October 2011 which was also the last day of the Durga Puja
celebration. Right after the programme on 6th October 2011 and
saying good bye to all, I left for New Jalpaiguri Railway station to board
Brahmaputra Mail.
