The Bible Believing Evangelical Church is a result of the merger of two small independent churches in Mizoram. Bible Believing Independent Church was a fundamental church which merged with Evangelical Church of Myanmar in Mizoram, comprising of a group of believers which claimed its root with the erstwhile NEIGM through their founder Dr. Ronald Lalthanliana. From the merger of these two emerged what is now known as Bible Believing Evangelical Church.
The Bible Believing Evangelical Church has been accepted into the federal body of the Evangelical Congregational Church representing the Lushai ethnic groups in Mizoram. Today the Church is led by Rev. Sapchhawna as the Executive Director. In its effort to counter the spread of Liberalism and syncretism, it starts a Bible College where evangelical-oriented curriculum are bieng taught.
It is also involves in penetrating the Bangladesh and Myanmar border areas with the message of the Gospel. For the last seven years they have been working among the primitive tribes of Bru, Bawm and Arakanese (Zakhai). They are very receptive to the Gospel and there have been several converts among them.
Requests from some villages from Myanmar and Bangladesh to extend Mission field have been received. Most of the people who are living in these two countries are mainly Buddhists. Arrangments are being made to send more Missionaries to these two countries.
